Finally a discovery of great Szechuan food restaurant! Had been searching after Gu's closed down. Excellent everything really - fish in chili oil, combination numbing bowl, salads tasted so far. Will continue to come here and enjoy more.
Also nice ambience, service and not a hole in the wall. -

I was in Buckhead last weekend and didn't feel like driving to Buford Hwy to get Asian food. I came on Yelp and discovered a spot called Urban Wu.
Urban Wu serves Szechuan/Hunan/Chinese style dishes. The place isn't big and was half full when I came in on a Saturday night. I liked the Mapo tofu dish we had because it wasn't too spicy but it still had that Szechuan kick to it. I saw a lot of people ordering the beef noodle soup, so I think I'll try it out the next time I visit. The food portions here are decent and they have many menu items to choose from.
I didn't really care for the Fish with Tofu in Pickle Pepper sauce but the fish was very soft and the tofu was yummy. The bamboo shots+chicken dish was very tasty.
Like most Szechuan restaurants, Urban Wu delivers on the strong flavors. You'll for sure want some rice to go with your meal (this is complimentary like usual). -

So glad I finally was able to check out Urban Wu! The restaurant is located in the same plaza as disco Kroger and la fitness in Buckhead. The cuisine is traditional Sichuan and hunan cuisine. You'll find a few American faves, but for the most part the dishes are not generic Chinese food. The food also skews spicy(which I love), but a heads up for all non spicy food lovers.
My group stopped by on a Saturday lunch hour. We ordered the dumplings, beer duck($19),lo mein, and spicy chicken. The duck was a little on the fatty side but delicious! Juicy and tender and served with bok Choy and rice. All dishes come with white rice or brown rice for $1 more. They also have $8-10 lunch specials. -

What's really nice about the spot is that it has both the traditional Chinese Szechuan cuisine, along with typical American Chinese cuisine. The American Chinese cuisine is way higher quality than your normal delivery joint, but it's made perfectly every time. One of our favorite apps to order is the numbing beef rolls. They're not really numbing, but they're definitely spicy. We've tried a few things but the general tso's is great from the American Chinese portion, and the fried fish, cumin lamb, and numbing dry chicken is perfection. Make sure to ask for extra chili sauce on the side. it's seriously amazing and very rare to find at places these days!
